Staurogyne repens is a very popular aquatic plant among the aquarium enthusiasts due to its hardiness and ease to care for. It is used as an excellent foreground plant in the aquarium industries. It is found in the river Rio Cristalino in the Southern Amazonas of Brazil. This plant grows on and between rocks on the bank of the fast flowing river, mainly above the waterline with full sun.
Staurogyne repens is a light green compact strong plant for the aquarium foreground originating from Rio Cristalino in Brazil. It can be used as ground-covering plant or as low cushion-like bush. Forms well through trimming. It is effective for setting accents in crevices and gaps in the hardscape. If you get a plant with long stems from emerged cultivation you ought to cut them off, cut them into several parts and plant them into the substrate, keeping a small distance. The lateral shoots that form in this case will grow more or less horizontally along the substrate. A lot of light (at least 0.5 W/litre) and a good CO2Â and nutrient supply are recommendable.
Just like fish, living plants do best when they are kept in an aquarium that best suits their needs. Selecting live plants that share common water conditions will minimize problems and make it easier for you to maintain and keep your aquarium in tip top shape. We want your plant to thrive and become a favorite part of your tank. Do research before purchasing and be sure to choose plants that are suitable for your aquarium so you will get the most out of your new addition.
Our plants are grown emersed and may not look great on arrival especially if they have travelled for a few days to reach you. Please give the plants some light and transplant into your tank as soon as possible for best results. Once planted they will open up and change appearance as they adapt to their new environment.
