Ludwigia Peruensis is one of the most colourful aquarium plants but is relatively demanding. Favorable conditions provided – strong lighting, good CO2 supply, nutrient-rich substrate, temperatures not permanently above 25 °C – it develops magnificent wine-red leaves. This Ludwigia species is native iin wetlands of southeastern North America. It is often erroneously labeled as “Ludwigia perennis” or “Ludwigia peruensis” in trade.
It is best placed as a freestanding group of stems with different lengths in the midground. In contrast to other Ludwigias, it develops upright, little branched, strong submerged stems that are densely set with narrow, lanceolate leaves. With its striking coloration, Ludwigia glandulosa is especially suited as an accent plant.
